Bret Fisher, MD

Dr. Bret Fisher is an experienced cataract and refractive surgeon serving patients across North Alabama. His practice includes advanced cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, LASIK and other refractive procedures, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, glaucoma laser treatment, and comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmology. Dr. Fisher has performed more than 50,000 cataract and LASIK procedures and was among the early U.S. surgeons to perform femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. A magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, he earned his medical degree with honors from Duke University School of Medicine, completed a general medicine internship at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and trained in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital. His academic and research contributions include a distinguished professorship at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, authorship in The Wills Eye Manual, peer-reviewed publications, and clinical research. He also founded the Tecate Eye Clinic in Mexico and has volunteered with EyeCare America.
