Jeffrey W. Bunning, MD

Dr. Jeffrey W. Bunning is a board-certified ophthalmologist with Mountain Empire Eye Physicians, providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care in Bristol, Pounding Mill, and Wise. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry and pre-medicine from Ohio University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received his medical degree from West Virginia University, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Bunning completed an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at WVU, serving as Chief Resident. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, diabetic eye disease, retinal disease, and comprehensive ophthalmology. Since joining Mountain Empire Eye Physicians in 2003, Dr. Bunning has been known for his precise surgical care, thoughtful diagnosis, and commitment to protecting patients’ long-term vision.
