Jill Helton, OD

Dr. Jill Helton specializes in the pre-operative and post-operative management of cataract and refractive surgery, along with the diagnosis and treatment of complex eye disease. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Alabama in 1994 and completed her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, graduating cum laude and earning membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. After optometry school, Dr. Helton completed an ocular disease residency at VisionAmerica in Nashville. She has held leadership roles within VisionAmerica and has served on the faculty of the UAB School of Optometry. Her professional involvement includes the American Optometric Association, Alabama Optometric Association, Birmingham Area Optometric Society, and service with the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Association. She has also participated in eye-care mission work throughout her career. Her care emphasizes thorough evaluation, clear patient education, and treatment planning tailored to the individual’s ocular findings and visual needs.
