Karen Shelton, MD
Dr. Karen Shelton is a board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 20 years of experience, focusing primarily on cataract and glaucoma surgery. She joined SouthEast Eye Specialists in 2020. Originally from Washington, D.C., she earned her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University before pursuing medicine. Her glaucoma surgical experience includes trabeculectomy, Ahmed and Baerveldt drainage devices, iStent procedures, and other advanced approaches. In cataract care, she performs femtosecond laser-assisted surgery and offers premium intraocular lens technologies, including multifocal, accommodating, and toric lenses.
