Matthew Hartman, MD

Dr. Matthew Hartman joined SouthEast Eye Specialists in 2020 and specializes in cataract surgery, corneal and external disease, and refractive surgery. He also uses advanced lens technologies to address astigmatism and presbyopia during cataract surgery and performs corneal transplantation procedures including DSEK and DMEK, as well as ocular surface reconstruction. Dr. Hartman graduated summa cum laude from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, followed by subspecialty fellowship training in cornea and external disease at the University of Colorado in Denver. A Nashville native, he returned to Middle Tennessee with his family to continue his ophthalmology career. He works to provide coordinated care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up, with attention to both immediate concerns and long-term eye health.
