Will Whitmire, MD

Dr. Will Whitmire is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing comprehensive medical eye care with a focus on cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other common eye conditions. With more than 15 years of experience, he emphasizes early detection, long-term disease management, and patient education. Dr. Whitmire grew up in the Chattanooga area and attended McCallie School. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, completed an internship at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, and finished ophthalmology residency training at Texas A&M College of Medicine. Outside of practice, he enjoys hiking, jogging, and family time and participates in community service and local and international mission work. He helps patients understand how cataracts affect vision and reviews surgical options with attention to visual goals, ocular health, and daily activities. When surgery is appropriate, treatment planning is tailored to the patient’s eye health, refractive needs, and expectations for vision after the procedure.
